HaulPoint Spot Rate Index Methodology

How the weekly national spot-rate dashboard is assembled, dated, sourced, corrected, and licensed.

What the index measures

Each weekly issue contains one national spot-rate observation in U.S. dollars per mile for van dry, reefer, and flatbed freight. The dashboard publishes only complete issues where all three equipment types share the same week-of date.

  • Van dry
  • Reefer
  • Flatbed

Spot-rate source

Publication pending. HaulPoint has not yet configured a public source and sampling statement for the manually entered spot-rate figures. Until that statement is published, the figures should be treated as editorial estimates and are not offered for redistribution.

Diesel benchmark

The diesel benchmark is the weekly U.S. Diesel Sales Price published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration and retrieved through FRED series GASDESW. The source requests citation and may revise observations.

Dates and revisions

The week-of date identifies the issue. Corrections are made on the existing report URL and reflected in the modified date. The public API exposes the issue date on every observation.

Reuse and citation

Citation and linking are welcome. No license for redistribution or commercial reuse is granted until a license URL is published on this page and in the API.

Corrections

Report suspected errors through the contact details on the About and Editorial Standards page. Material corrections are applied to the original URL.
